Illustration Study
This was a self-driven project where I wanted to focus on illustrating light and shadow in a self-portrait. The tool used in this project is Adobe Illustrator.
Challenge
Convey the light and shadows in a realistic yet stylised aesthetic.
Process
Illustration Development
First, I separated the different elements that were needed before beginning the illustration. Then I focused on outlining the key facial features to establish the position of the face. Through utilising abstract shapes to convey shadows and light, I was able to create depth and dimension in the illustration. The border and background were added to complete the illustration in a clean manner. The border frames the illustration while the background contrasts the illustration, allowing it to stand out.

The outcome is a clean illustration that demonstrates the use of a detailed yet stylised technique.
